Marcus Robinson

Director, IT Communications, Penn State

Marcus P. Robinson is the Director of IT Communications for the Office of the Vice Provost for Information Technology at Penn State. In this role, Marcus leads a team of communication professionals who develop print, video, online and in-person strategies and tactics that showcase Penn State's brand strengths, and highlight the important role IT plays in supporting the University and its mission. Together with his team, Marcus provides strategy and direction to address the communication needs, opportunities and challenges of a workforce of more than 1,500 technologists, the IT services they support, and the more than 100,000 customers who engage with those technologists and services every day.

With over fourteen years of experience in communication, web and technical fields, Marcus has conceived and led numerous, nationally recognized communication and web initiatives. Currently, he is co-leading Polaris, a University-wide group responsible for the redesign of Penn State's web presence.

Marcus is passionate about many things, including his family, his friends, his work, and his Fraternity, for which he is a national officer and key volunteer.  In his role with Sigma Phi Epsilon, he travels the country to lead workshops for college undergraduates and peers on topics including leadership, communication, team dynamics, mentoring, coaching, and volunteerism.

Marcus is a graduate of the University of Dayton, an Ohio native, a long-time adoptive parent of Greyhounds, lover of Caribou Coffee oatmeal, seriously lighthearted, calmly determined, into the color orange, and German.
